Our Partners

Our partners have helped us classify and inventory wetlands across Canada’s boreal plains. They have supported us in developing guidebooks and learning how to build better roads in and around boreal wetlands. And in-turn, partners use our scientific research, geospatial data and conservation planning expertise to address their conservation challenges and support wetlands across Canada’s boreal.

Why the boreal?

Why are boreal wetlands so important to conserve? Not only does conservation of wetlands help mitigate climate change, the Canadian boreal provides food and shelter for millions of waterfowl each summer. Forty per cent of North America’s waterfowl breed in the boreal forest. It is critical habitat for Canada’s most iconic species such as caribou, moose, wolf, cougar, lynx and grizzly bear.
